The 2012 season has proven to be a bit of an up-hill battle, with several issues needing to be dealt with, but as always we keep the head high and are forging on, and aim to try and win the championship, although its become increasingly more difficult, but not impossible.

The season’s first race in the Thailand Touring Car Championship saw Tony qualifying 3rd in his class, and finishing well in the first race, the second race was a different story. Tony got a good start, but got locked in in the first 2 corners and lose a few places and then pushed hard to get them back, when he was suddenly touched from behind, and on a wet track, which saw him spinning out and join at the back of the field. Tony then took up the chance and brilliantly driving and over takings saw him move up through the field again lap by lap. Towards the end of the race he was back into 3rd in his class, but an accident on track with oil spilled all over the track, saw Tony sliding off the track and hitting our other car from the team which was stationary causing a huge impact and big damage to both cars. Later reviews of the accident shows that no slippery surface flags were being shown, which also explained why a massive amount of 7 other cars also ended up off the track in the same corner.

Thomas, has a dismal start with a blown engine, for the qualifying and then having to start from the back shown determination and great overtaking skills coming from 23rd place and finishing 6th in the first race. Thomas started 8th in the second race, and again continued forging forward and ended the second race in 2nd overall and 1st in his class.

The team prepared well for the second event with race 3 & 4, and all the cars were painted in the new 2012 team colors, and the new race suits were taken into use, and the team looked really good going into the 2nd event of the season.

Tony again qualified well and although he was far of his normal best times, and not happy with the handling of the car he still managed to put the car in 3rd place in his class, and finished both races well and scored valuable points. Amazingly even with the crash in race 2 of the season, Tony proved that consistency and reliability is more important that speed and inconsistency, which saw Tony 3rd in the Championship only trailing the leader with 2.5 points.

Thomas set a new personal best lap time in the car, and was doing well leading up to the race and was in a safe 2nd place in the first race, when suddenly the car developed issues and he was not able to finish the race. Overnight the team worked hard on the car getting it ready and the following morning in warm-up the best times from the previous day was matched, and with a start from 5th place on the grid, Thomas was in for another push to the front of the race. Thomas had a great start and was quickly up to 4th and then later on into 3rd overall and 2nd in his class, where he also finished the race.

Thomas is currently trailing the leader with 18 points, but with 4 races still to go it’s still possible to pull out a rabbit from the hat and challenge for the Championship.

The 5th and 6th race of the season will be held in Bira Circuit on the 29th and 30th of September, and here the team will do its best to try and get back into the championship lead in one class and into championship contention in the other class.
